Charles, brother of James, was born in Glasgow in 1885, son of Mr Oliver Ross McIntosh and Mrs Jeanie Dick McIntosh of 331 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow - latterly of Moy Lodge, Elmwood Avenue Newton Mearns. Oliver McIntosh was a music seller and piano tuner and before Charles joined up, he was his father's assistant.

Charles was killed at Loos on 28 September 1915, aged 30 and is buried in Chocques Military Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais France - Grave reference I. B. and also commemorated on the family gravestone in Mearns Cemetery.
