Eric Pearce Oatts

Eric was born at Crosshill Avenue Glasgow on 22nd August 1892, son of Mr John Lumsden Oatts J.P. who was born in Glasgow in 1851 and married Ellen Margaret Pearce on 12th January 1886 at St Saviours Brixton Surrey.  Eric was their second son. They lived latterly at 'The Beeches', Newton Mearns. Eric's father was a solicitor whose business was at 113 St. Vincent Street, Glasgow and he was also a Justice of the Peace. He died at 'The Beeches', Newton Mearns on 10th August 1919.   

Eric was  killed at Infantry Hill near the village of Monchy-le-Preux during the battle of Arras, on 3 May 1917, aged 26 and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Pas-de-Calais, France - Bay 5.
